Former Senator representing Kogi West Dino Melaye has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP citing the party’s failure to provide credible leadership and to deliver good governance to Nigerians
In a letter posted on his official X account Melaye declared his immediate withdrawal from all party activities across every level of involvement
According to the letter
“I hereby tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party at all levels of involvement”
Cites Lack of Capacity and Vision
Melaye stated that the party has lost its potency and capacity to address Nigeria’s challenges and lead the country out of what he described as deep-rooted political decay
He wrote
“This decision has become imperative due to the lack of potency and capacity by the party to deliver the Nigerian people from the prevailing political cankerworms that have eaten deeply into the fabric of our dear nation”
Deep Reflection Informed His Exit
Melaye who contested as the PDP’s candidate in the 2023 Kogi State governorship election said his decision followed thorough reflection on the current state of the party and its direction
“Having carefully reflected on the state of the party I can no longer in good conscience participate in the activities of the parties or lend my support to her agenda” he added
He requested that his resignation be acknowledged as a complete and final withdrawal from all structures and organs of the party
“In view of the above please consider this as my formal withdrawal from the party and all its activities at all levels with immediate effect”

In his concluding remarks Melaye expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve under the PDP during his years of membership
“Thank you for the opportunity to serve under the platform during my period of membership” the letter concluded
