New York — A juror in the ongoing sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy trial of hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been dismissed after inconsistencies in residency details emerged, prompting concerns from the defense team over the jury’s racial composition.
Judge Arun Subramanian ruled on the dismissal after determining that the juror had provided conflicting statements regarding whether their primary residence was in New York or New Jersey. The judge cited concerns over credibility, stating that the integrity of the trial required jurors to be fully transparent about their qualifications.
Combs’ legal representatives strongly objected to the decision, arguing that the removal of the Black juror in favor of a white alternate could reduce racial diversity within the panel and potentially impact the fairness of deliberations. However, Judge Subramanian maintained that race should not factor into the decision, emphasizing that juror integrity was the priority.
The high-profile trial, now entering its sixth week, has captivated public attention as prosecutors introduced key evidence, including text messages exchanged between Combs and a woman identified as “Jane.” These messages allegedly detail their relationship and include claims of threats made by Combs.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges and remains in custody as proceedings continue.
