A couple and another woman have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly being in possession of a semi automatic pistol without legal authorisation

The suspects were intercepted during a stop and search operation conducted by officers from the Ipaja Division in the Ipaja area of Lagos
Discovery During Bag Search
The arrest was confirmed on Tuesday July 30 by the police command’s spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin through a statement shared on his official X account
While conducting a routine search officers intercepted two women and insisted on examining the contents of their bags
The search led to the discovery of a semi automatic pistol
Husband Tracked Down After Interrogation
According to Hundeyin further questioning revealed that the firearm belonged to the husband of one of the women who was later located and arrested
The man has since been taken into custody
Case Transferred for Full Investigation
Hundeyin added that the case has now been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID for further investigation
That is one less illegal firearm in circulation
