President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will later this month commission the newly approved College of Petroleum and Energy Studies in Kaduna (CPESK), a private postgraduate institution licensed to operate by the Federal Government.
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, revealed this on Monday when the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), Ahmad Galadima Aminu, paid him a courtesy visit.

“We cannot make progress in a fast-changing and complex society if we fail to develop local capacity,” Governor Sani said.
“This College, if well supported, has the potential to develop local manpower that will change the face of Nigeria’s petroleum industry.”
College Prepares for First Intake
Ahmad Galadima Aminu disclosed that the College will admit its first set of PhD students in September 2025. According to him, screening and interviews are ongoing, with 3,702 applications received so far under the PTDF Split-Site PhD Programme.
The college is expected to run five faculties focused on petroleum and energy studies, aiming to boost Nigeria’s technical expertise in the sector.
Authorities say the new institution will drive innovation and provide the local workforce needed to advance Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
