Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo has fired back at social media activist Verydarkman, describing him as manipulative and deceptive, following his claim that she reneged on a supposed agreement to publicly apologise to Naira Marley and Sam Larry.
According to Verydarkman, the alleged agreement was made during a closed-door meeting at the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NCCC), where Iyabo Ojo, Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and fellow actress Tonto Dikeh were all reportedly present with their legal representatives.
Iyabo Ojo Dismisses the Claims
Iyabo Ojo refuted the entire narrative, calling Verydarkman’s version of events a calculated attempt to twist public perception. She emphasized that her actions were rooted in truth and concern, especially following the suspicious death of late singer Mohbad.
“Verydarkman, I saw your video, and I know why you made those videos. I’m sure the NCCC has called to tell you that I’ve petitioned them, so you had to come out and do your normal manipulative tactics.
I am a very wise woman. I know when to fight, when to listen and when to speak, unlike you who speak from both sides of the mouth and people should stop taking you seriously.
I was invited by NCCC. I was on my way to Tanzania for Priscilla’s wedding and I saw the letter. I’ve never seen Naira Marley before. I just help promote his songs on my platform.
I saw a video of Naira Marley dancing after Mohbad’s death. I was angry.
I also saw Sam Larry’s video where he harassed Zlatan Ibile and Mohbad. That was when I believed the bullying allegations. As a concerned citizen and mother, I used my platforms.”
Standing on Principle
The actress made it clear that her position stemmed from the disturbing videos and online content that surfaced after Mohbad’s death. These included footage allegedly showing Sam Larry mocking the late singer and other scenes suggesting physical intimidation.
Iyabo noted that as a mother and public figure, she felt compelled to use her platform to seek justice and raise awareness about the issue. She maintained that she never had a prior relationship with Naira Marley and had only supported his music promotionally in the past.
This clash comes amid heightened public scrutiny over Mohbad’s death and the roles certain celebrities may have played in his troubled final days. Verydarkman has consistently positioned himself as a watchdog in social issues, but critics argue that his confrontational style and selective narratives often stir more chaos than clarity.
